FitLine Activize Oxyplus: The Niacin Flush, the Guarana, and Everything Else
I’ve been taking Activize Oxyplus since 2018. That’s not a marketing statement — it’s context. Over seven years you see how a product behaves across conditions: fasted, fed, pre-training, mid-workday, across seasons, across clients with different metabolic profiles. What follows is built on that, not on reading the label once and writing 800 words.
The first thing most people experience with Activize is the flush. Warm skin, tingling at the ears or the back of the head, sometimes a redness across the face and forearms. It catches people off guard the first time. The second thing — if they push past the initial surprise — is that it works. The question is understanding why both of those things happen, and under what conditions each is more or less likely.

The Niacin Flush: What’s Actually Happening
Mechanism
Nicotinic acid (the form of niacin in Activize, not niacinamide) binds to the GPR109A receptor on Langerhans cells in the skin. This triggers release of arachidonic acid, which is converted to prostaglandin D2 (PGD2) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2). These prostaglandins cause rapid vasodilation of cutaneous capillaries — the small blood vessels just under the skin surface — producing warmth, redness, and tingling that typically peaks within 15–30 minutes and resolves on its own.
It’s a pharmacological effect of nicotinic acid at effective doses, not an allergic reaction and not a sign that something is wrong. The flush is the same mechanism exploited in clinical cardiology at gram-level doses for HDL elevation. At the doses in Activize it’s milder, but the pathway is identical.
Who gets it and why
After years of watching this across different people, the variables that predict flush intensity are fairly consistent:

In product demonstrations it’s common to prepare Activize with very little water and give the full 1.67 g dose to a first-time user on an empty stomach. The flush is more visible this way. If you’re introducing this to someone for the first time in a real-world context, starting with half a dose well diluted after a meal is considerably more comfortable and sets better expectations for continued use.
The Guarana Question
Twenty milligrams of caffeine per dose is not a stimulant dose in any conventional sense. A standard espresso delivers 60–80 mg. The relevance of the guarana in Activize is not the caffeine quantity — it’s the delivery mechanism.
In guarana seeds, caffeine is naturally complexed with tannins (primarily procyanidins). This binding slows gastric hydrolysis and delays intestinal absorption, producing a flatter, more sustained plasma caffeine curve compared to free caffeine from coffee or synthetic caffeine added to energy drinks. The result at 20 mg is a mild, extended adenosine-blocking effect without the acute spike that causes jitteriness or cardiovascular stress in sensitive individuals.
Reports of palpitations or nervousness with Activize are rare, and when they occur they almost always involve people with very high total daily caffeine intake from other sources. The guarana contribution alone doesn’t explain those reactions. If someone is already at 400+ mg of caffeine per day from coffee and other sources, adding three doses of Activize introduces about 60 mg more — which may be enough to tip over tolerance in a small number of cases.
The Curcumin + γ-Cyclodextrin Complex
This is one of the more technically interesting decisions in the Activize formula and the one most reviews skip entirely.
Raw curcumin has a water solubility of approximately 11 ng/ml at physiological pH — essentially zero. Its oral bioavailability is infamously poor, which is why standard curcumin supplements require piperine, phospholipid complexes, or nanoparticle formulations to achieve meaningful plasma levels. The γ-cyclodextrin approach works differently: the cyclodextrin molecule forms a toroidal (ring-shaped) cavity that traps the hydrophobic curcumin molecule inside a hydrophilic shell, increasing aqueous solubility by roughly four orders of magnitude. This allows curcumin to dissolve freely in the water-based drink and survive transit to the small intestine in a bioavailable state.
At the dose present in Activize the anti-inflammatory contribution is supportive rather than therapeutic — this isn’t a curcumin supplement. But as part of a daily routine the cumulative NF-κB modulation and COX-2 inhibition adds a meaningful background anti-inflammatory effect, particularly for people training regularly where low-grade systemic inflammation is an ongoing factor.
Beetroot and Nitric Oxide
The beetroot powder isn’t cosmetic. Dietary nitrate from beetroot follows the entero-salivary cycle: absorbed in the small intestine, concentrated in salivary glands, reduced to nitrite by oral bacteria, and then converted to nitric oxide (NO) in the acidic environment of the stomach and systemically in endothelial tissue. NO is a potent vasodilator that increases blood flow and reduces the oxygen cost of sub-maximal exercise.
The dose in Activize is modest — this isn’t the same as drinking 500 ml of beetroot juice before a race. But taken three times daily as recommended, the cumulative nitrate exposure contributes to a chronic background elevation in NO bioavailability. Combined with the vasodilatory effect of niacin at GPR109A, the product has two independent mechanisms pushing in the same functional direction: better peripheral circulation.
Practical Notes
Dilution matters more than most people think. The recommended range is 40–120 ml per dose. At 40 ml the flush is much more likely and more intense. At 120 ml it’s considerably gentler. For daily use, 80–100 ml is a reasonable middle ground — concentrated enough to be convenient, diluted enough to be comfortable for most people.
Timing across the day: Morning on waking, mid-morning, and early afternoon covers the typical energy demand curve without affecting sleep. Taking a dose after 5–6 pm is not ideal if you’re caffeine-sensitive, though at 20 mg the risk is low for most people.
The scoop: One level scoop is 1.67 g. Don’t heap it. The dose calibration matters for both efficacy and flush management. Three level scoops per day equals the full 5 g recommended daily intake.
Storage: Keep the lid properly closed. The powder absorbs moisture easily and can clump if left exposed. Unlike the Restorate tin, Activize doesn’t have the same compaction problem because the particle size is finer, but humidity is still the enemy.
Color: The red-pink color in the glass is entirely from the beetroot powder. It’s natural and varies slightly between batches. Not a quality concern.
Who Gets Real Value From This

- People with B-vitamin gaps in their diet (common in restrictive eating patterns)
- Athletes needing Cologne List–verified daily supplementation
- Individuals with low-grade chronic fatigue where B12/B6 insufficiency is a factor

- People who want anti-inflammatory support built into a morning routine
- Histamine intolerance (niacin + histamine load can stack)
- Active peptic ulcer (nicotinic acid is gastric irritant at empty stomach)
- Gout — niacin competes with uric acid excretion at high doses (less relevant here but worth noting)
- Very high total daily caffeine intake (assess cumulative dose)
- Thyroid medication users — the seaweed iodine is marginal but worth flagging with prescribing physician if you’re on a strict iodine-controlled protocol
Nicotinic acid at gram-level doses interacts with statins (increased myopathy risk) and anticoagulants. At the doses in Activize these interactions are clinically unlikely but worth noting for people on those medications who are sensitive to niacin’s effects. Curcumin has mild antiplatelet properties — relevant if you’re on warfarin or other anticoagulants, though again, at this dose level the clinical significance is low. As always, if you’re on chronic medication, a brief check with your prescriber takes five minutes and removes all uncertainty.
Scoring
The tolerance score reflects that a meaningful percentage of first-time users experience the flush as uncomfortable without prior explanation — which is a communication problem more than a formulation problem. Once people understand what’s happening and learn to manage dose and dilution, it stops being an issue. The formula itself is more sophisticated than it appears on first read, particularly the curcumin bioavailability engineering and the tannin-bound guarana delivery.
